Backroads to Freedom…Harriet Tubman, conductor of the Underground Railroad with Lunch

We will begin this informative, evocative, and emotive tour at the NEW Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Museum in Cambridge, Maryland. We will start with a short video introducing us to Harriet Tubman’s life. An immersive display shows how the landscape of the Choptank River region on Maryland’s Eastern Shore shaped her early years and the importance of faith, family, and community. The exhibit features information about Tubman’s role as the conductor of the Underground Railroad. Highlighting her work as a freedom fighter, humanitarian, leader and liberator. Step outside the visitor center to relax and reflect in the legacy garden. Next, we will visit the Bucktown Store here Harriet was wounded by a slave owner while defending another slave. This injury would cause Harriet to have debilitating headaches throughout her lifetime. Lunch will be at nearby Suicide Bridge where we will enjoy an Eastern Shore Style lunch of crab cake and fried chicken along the Choptank River. Return home taking with you memories of a time so important in history you must see it for yourself!
