Travel to beautiful upstate New York for a three day getaway to experience the magnificent countryside, the majestic Saint Lawrence River and Boldt Castle

You will be staying at the Beautiful Harbor View Hotel a 5 Diamond Resort  with a great location on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. Your hotel provides the ideal vantage point from which to explore the area during your free time.Amenities such as Indoor Pool, Fitness center, Hot Tub, upscale dining and cocktails at their Seaway Grille and 1000 Islands Bar!  During your visit you will travel through Time" when you board the Clayton Island Tours Boat, enjoy a  lunch on the St Lawrence River while enjoying the beautiful scenery as the story of the Gilded Age unfolds. Visit Heart Island for a self-guided tour of the Romantic Boldt Castle and their beautiful grounds, stop at George Boldt Yacht house on Wellesly Island, Experienced guides will share stories and introduce you to sights including the ships that travel the St Lawrence Seaway and a pass under the American Span of the 1000 Island Bridge.  Look for sea birds (including Osprey) as we cruise the St Lawrence Shipping Channel.  A stop at Rock Island Lighthouse, now a New York State Park enhances the Story. As you visit the museum or climb to the top of the lighthouse, you will hear the stories of shipping starting in the 1800's through to today.

Visit the Antique Boat museum and the fascinating, amusing, and sometimes tragic stories of the boats and their Captains that navigated the St. Lawrence River.  A Guided tour of the 106' houseboat La Duchesse brings the gracious River lifestyle of one hundred years ago to life!

Day 1

Afternoon Arrival Beautiful 5 star 1000 Islands Harbor Hotel check in. Meet a local tour guide and enjoy a Walking Tour of the Unique Village of Clayton.
Listen to the history of the village, established in 1873, soon after the railroad was brought to Clayton and with it came people seeking time away from the city life. As a result, hotels, restaurants, boat livery’s, fishing guides and tourist related services began to flourish and a new industry was born, tourism. View the homes of Ships Captains and early adventuress settlers calling the 1000 Islands home. Enjoy some tastings at Coyote Moon Vineyard Lounge and distilled spirits St Lawrence Distillery where St Lawrence River water is used to produce the delicious beverages. Dinner on your own at one of the many restaurants located in the Village. You can venture out or just enjoy dinner at your hotel, relax on the deck watching the boats sail by and possibly get a glimpse of a beautiful sunset! Popular with area residents and hotel guests alike, their Seaway Grille and 1000 Islands Bar are the hottest places to hangout in Clayton. After a busy day exploring, there's nothing better than to kick back and relax at their restaurant and bar. Take a seat and enjoy authentic American cuisine, an outstanding selection of area wines and craft beers, and a laidback vibe. In season, savor panoramic water views, al fresco dining and cocktails at The Riverside Patio.

Day 2

After breakfast board one of Clayton Island Tours boats at the Harbor Municipal Dock located alongside the Hotel for the very popular Ultimate Boat Tour. As we travel the St Lawrence River, passengers will enjoy the beautiful scenery and lunch as the story of the Gilded Age unfolds. Tour circles Wellesley Island the 2nd largest Island in the 1000 Islands, as we wander through the Islands the Guide shares stories of the rich and famous, their homes and life on the Islands in the early 19th Century as we cruise both the Canadian and American Channels. Disembark at Heart Island for a self-guided tour of the Romantic Boldt Castle and the beautiful grounds. At the Castle experience what life was like in the Gilded Age when George Boldt built this Summer Home for his wife and feel the devastation upon her death. Board Clayton Island Tour boat and continue your Tour of the St Lawrence River. Experienced guides will share stories and introduce you to sights including the ships that travel the St Lawrence Seaway and a pass under the American Span of the 1000 Island Bridge. Look for sea birds (including Osprey) as we cruise the St Lawrence Shipping Channel. A stop at Rock Island Lighthouse, now a New York State Park enhances the Story. As you visit the museum or climb to the top of the lighthouse, you will hear the stories of shipping starting in the 1800’s through to today. And if lucky your guest may watch one of the many shipping freighters passing close by. Return to the dock and freshen up, either board the coach or stay at Hotel, those boarding the coach then head to Alexandria Bay, favorite destination for tourists, plenty of shopping and restaurants for dinner on your own. Later board coach and return to Hotel.

Day 3

After Breakfast at the Hotel board the Coach head to the Antique Boat Museum Arrive at the Antique Boat Museum where you will again, step back in time, while a Docent shares the history of freshwater boats and the role they played in the Gilded Age Marvel at the beauty and craftsmanship as you see your own reflection in the hand polished wooden boats. Enjoy the fascinating, amusing, and sometimes tragic stories of the boats and their Captains that navigated the St. Lawrence River. A Guided tour of the 106' houseboat La Duchesse brings the gracious River lifestyle of one hundred years ago to life. Built in 1903 for Millionaire hotelier George Boldt, manager of New York City's famed Waldorf-Astoria hotel, the houseboat has been in continuous use as an elegant summer residence ever since. Generously donated by the McNally family, of Wellesley Island, NY, and Chicago, IL, she opened for visitors at the Museum in July of 2005 We will then depart for home with fond memories of our 1000 Island vacation
