Charleston, Savannah and Tybee Island Southern Charm Getaway

 

Charleston's romantic history, picturesque architecture and scenic surroundings are sure to inspire you as well as Savannah streets which are lined with moss draped oaks, stately mansions and history and culture of the south. Tybee Island is a wonderful place for the nature lover to visit. Come explore our coastal salt marshes, beaches with natural protected dunes and our subtropical forests of live; oak, pine, and palm. This Southern Spring Fling includes accommodations in the heart of town in Savannah, so you can roam as you wish to explore the areas on your free time!  Includes 2 nights in Savannah, one night in Charleston, two nights in North Carolina, breakfast daily, 3 dinners, two lunches and included features and more!

Day 1

Depart for our journey south with a overnight in North Carolina We will stop at the National Museum of the Marine Corp for a short visit and time to purchase lunch. This museum stands as a lasting tribute to the soldiers who have given their lives in battle. Artifacts from the Revolutionary War to the Vietnam Conflict are on display, and the exhibit devoted to World War II is especially poignant. Included in the collection are pieces such as the American flag that was raised at Iwo Jima which inspired the famous memorial in Arlington, and a moving account of the Bataan Death March.

Day 2

Breakfast at Hotel then we will head to Savannah where we will have free time for lunch at (City Market on your own) before boarding the Historic Trolley for your tour before checking into your accomodations convienetly located on Bay street. Dinner tonight at The Pirates' House which is a historic restaurant and tavern established in 1753. The rest of the evening you can explore the area or just relax!

Day 3

Breakfast at Hotel then we will tour the Savannah Low Country beginning in Ardsley Park, the first motorized subdivision in the city. See the beautiful houses that line Victory Drive and hear the stories of the area and how Victory Drive got its name. Continue on to the sleepy fishing village of Thunderbolt. The Town of Thunderbolt, a small town who owes its name to a legend of a lightning strike that created a freshwater spring on the Wilmington bluff. Native Americans were found to be among the first inhabitants. Thunderbolt was a settlement which evolved into a shipping point for local plantation needs which also serviced the river traffic. In 1890, Georgia State College was founded for the education of African Americans. This college continues to be a historically black institution and is known today as Savannah State University. Today, the Town of Thunderbolt remains a unique community with a distinct personality all of its own. Families dwell in this town for many generations which becomes a part of our town's rich history. As you drive through the Lowcountry you will see Fort Pulaski, Fort Screven, and Tybee Lighthouse. You will have time for a great picture opportunity on the beach on Tybee Island. See the Tybee Lighthouse. Ordered by General James Oglethorpe, Governor of the 13th colony, in 1732, the Tybee Island Light Station has been guiding mariners safe entrance into the Savannah River for over 270 years. There is a great museum store to explore. Lunch included then we will go back to your hotel located on the main strip of Savannah. The rest of the evening you are free to explore the area.

Day 4

Breakfast included then we will continue to Charleston "The Jewel of the South" in time for lunch on own at city market before our afternoon tour of Charleston. Later we will check into our hotel. This evening we will enjoy a dinner cruise on Charleston's beautiful harbor by moon light on the Spirit of Carolina. Enjoy the unique and beautiful sights of our harbor at sunset as well as a delicious dinner including entertainment from live and local musicians.
Your 4 course dinner is made to order using fresh local ingredients and entrée choices.

Day 5

Breakfast included and we will visit Magnolia Plantation and Gardens is a historic house with gardens located on the Ashley River and is one of the oldest plantations in the South, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places with box lunch included. We will then do our last overnight in North Carolina. Dinner included this evening

Day 6

Continental breakfast at your hotel then we will continue to the charming waterfront town of Occoquan, Virginia. This quaint 18th century mill town is set on the river with a variety of unique shops and eateries for lunch (on own) before returning home with fond memories of our Savannah, Charleston getaway.

NEW YORK STRIP… 10 oz. (cooked to a Medium temperature) Charbroiled New York Strip-loin accompanied with Home-style Mashed Potatoes and Fresh Vegetable.

Choice of SOUTHERN PECAN PIE or KEY LIME PIE
