Virginia Food, Wine & Spirits Trail in Northern Virginia and Shenandoah Valley

 

The Virginia Food, Wine, & Spirits Tour, three fabulous days of wining and dining amongst the lush landscapes of Northern Virginia and the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Also known as “DC’s Wine Country”, the area is well-known for its exceptional vineyards and breweries made possible by the inimitable foliage and temperate climate unique to the region.  We’ll “tour & taste” at some of the most popular vineyards each day, explore gorgeous estate properties and historic taverns, sample exceptional brews, and feast on fantastic foods inset with amazing views – all on this laid-back, “relax-and-get-away-from-it-all” tour you won’t want to miss! Includes two breakfasts, two lunches and one dinners, along with baggage handling.

Day 1

Depart Audubon to make your way to Virginia. Once you arrive, you will take a short winery tour and enjoy wine tasting along with "A Little Bit of Loudoun" specialty food sampler, which includes Devilish Good Eggs, praline bacon, and spiced pecans from Ford's Fish Shack. Smoked Salmon Bruschetta- goat cheese, remoulade, and ciabatta from Ford's Fish Shack. Pulled Pork BBQ Sliders - potato roll, Italian style vinegar slaw, house made blackberry whisky BBQ sauce from Monk's BBQ. A Taste Of Loudoun Bar - 64% Manjari dark chocolate, dehydrated strawberries, freeze-dried rose petals from The Conche.
After your first winery tour, you will depart to enjoy another tasting at Breaux Vineyards. A Cajun owned and operated winery and vineyard. You will have time to relax surrounded by beautiful grounds and cherry blossom trees. Additional wine tasting and appetizers on own. Depart Breaux Vine yards to enjoy dinner on own at One Loudoun. Stroll along the beautifully designed streetscapes to visit your favorite boutiques. Dine at the trendiest restaurants and bars, or enjoy a community event on the Downtown Plaza. With a packed calendar and an ever-growing list of merchants, One Loudoun has quickly become one of the hottest destinations in Loudoun County! Tonight check in to your hotel for your two-night stay.

Day 2

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel this morning. After breakfast, depart for Morven Park. In its 240-year history, Morven Park's mansion transformed from a tiny fieldstone two-room house into the impressive Greek Revival edifice we see today. In 1903, Morven Park became the home of Westmoreland Davis and his wife Marguerite Inman Davis. During their time at the estate, Westmoreland Davis was elected Governor of Virginia from 1918 - 1922. Known as Virginia's "Farmer Governor," Davis dedicated himself to improving the lives of Virginia's farm families. Enjoy a guided tour of the Governor's Mansion, Museum of Hounds and Hunting of North America, and the Winmill Carriage Museum included in your visit today. Following the Governor's Mansion tour you will depart to enjoy a lunch on own downtown Leesburg. After lunch you will travel to you next spirits trail at Henway Hard Cider. At the foot of The Blue Ridge Mountains, our family-friendly cider barn serves seasonal hard ciders. Today you will enjoy cider tasting Next you will journey to the Bluemont Vineyard.Nestled on the first ridge of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Northern Virginia Wine Country, our tasting room is located 951 feet above sea level, with panoramic views of the gorgeous Loudoun Valley. Sip a glass of your favorite wine while overlooking the verdant vines that cling to the sun-kissed mountainside, the vast orchards, and our family farm that spreads below. Guided Tasting included. This evening enjoy dinner included at Clyde's Willow Creek Farm.True to its name, Clyde's is located on a working farm where their team of chefs headed by Adam Newton draws inspiration for the classic tavern menu. After dinner return to the hotel.

Day 3

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel prior to checking out. Today you will visit the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center National Air and Space Museum. The Udvar-Hazy Center provides space for over 335 air and spacecraft that tell the history of aviation and space flight. The displays include the Space Shuttle Enterprise, an SR-71 Blackbird, Dash 80 prototype of the Boeing 707, the B-17 Flying Fortress, an F-4 Phantom fighter, the B-29 Superfortress "Enola Gay", and the de Havilland Chipmunk. Visitors are able to walk among the exhibits and view them from elevated "skyways". There is an Observation Tower where visitors can watch air traffic at Dulles International Airport. Enjoy your farewell lunch and tasting at The Farm Brewery at Broad Run nestled in the quaint community of Haymarket, VA. Relax in the 6 acre meticulously landscaped beer garden or Brew barn. Self-guided beer tasting of four beers. A house flight of beers with tasting. Depart for home.
