Over 30 years ago, the movie Forrest Gump was filmed in Beaufort, SC. This trip features film site touring, and the chance to meet Forrest Gump himself. You can also savor fresh shrimp with a shrimping tour and a Lowcountry boil, plus an afternoon at the 32nd Annual Beaufort Shrimp Festival.

Day 1
Fayetteville, NC
Today, travel to Fayetteville, NC where you enjoy an overnight stay at the DoubleTree. Dinner is on your own this evening.
Day 2
Beaufort, SC - Beaufort History Museum
After breakfast, depart for Beaufort, SC. Arrive in Beaufort this
afternoon in time for lunch on your own in Downtown Beaufort. Tucked into winding, historic Antebellum streets framed by natural foliage and centuries-old, moss-draped live oak trees, Beaufort is more than a hidden Lowcountry gem,it's a transformative destination that has charmed visitors since 1512.
The afternoon also features a visit to the Beaufort History Museum. Located inside The Arsenal, built in 1798, the Beaufort History Museum features exhibits on its history & culture. End the day by checking into the Springhill Suites for a four-night stay. Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant.
Day 3
Guided Tour of Beaufort - Port Royal Maritime Center - Dinner with Forrest Gump
After breakfast at the hotel, meet your local guide for a city tour of Beaufort and filming sites from Forrest Gump. The tour starts at Lucy Creek, which can be seen in several scenes in the film with Forrest's shrimp boat, Jenny. While in Lucy Creek, you will also see Bubba's Mama's House and Forrest's Mama's House.
After an included lunch at a local restaurant, visit the Port Royal Maritime Center. Located on the Chechessee River, the Maritime Center exhibits appeal to all ages, from a life-sized Megalodon jaw to a 3,000-gallon aquarium featuring local marine life. The Maritime Center features work from local artists as well as photos and artifacts that help tell the story of how the Sound has
influenced the area’s rich history and culture. After a day around town, you will have some time to relax and freshen up before heading out to dinner.
Tonight, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant where a Forrest Gump impersonator will join you! He will talk with you and tell you lots of stories while you eat.
Day 4
Savannah History Museum - Chippewa Square - Savannah Riverboat Cruise
This morning after breakfast, depart for a full day in Savannah, GA and more Forrest Gump
related attractions. Start with a visit to the Savannah History Museum showcasing the city's history from its founding in 1733 to the present day and has everything from an interactive component about Native American cultures to a 1902 Crestmobile, a car that pre-dates the Ford Model A. Learn about the Revolutionary War in Savannah or see Johnny Mercer's Oscar and Grammy awards. But it’s Forrest Gump’s bench that the museum is best known for, left behind from the film production.
Next, visit Chippewa Square, known for the famous park bench scenes from Forrest Gump. Here in the opening shot of the film, a feather floats high above the trees, then sweeps down past the Independent Presbyterian Church, the James Oglethorpe Statue and makes its way toward the park bench. Tom Hanks, who plays the role of Forrest, sat on this park bench for about 80% of the film telling his life story to anyone who will listen. But the location of the bench for the movie in Chippewa Square is still a popular spot for photographs. You will have time to explore the area and find lunch on your own.
Then enjoy a Savannah Riverboat Cruise and experience the river that is the lifeblood of Savannah! Hear the Captain’s intriguing tales and historic facts about Savannah's modern port and the ships that visit from all over the world. Then make your way down river to Old Fort Jackson, home of one of the largest and oldest original artillery pieces in the country! Take advantage of the great photo opportunities of Savannah’s historic riverfront and skyline.
This evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant before returning to Beaufort for the night.
Day 5
Hunting Island Dolphin Cruise - Shrimo Boatdock Tour - Lowcountry Boil Lunch - Beaufort Shrimp Festival
Start the day with a Hunting Island Dolphin Cruise, not only will you see dolphins, but you will see a lot of wildlife! This rich habitat attracts bald eagles, ospreys, pelicans, blue crabs, herons, ibises and more. Their guides will deepen your understanding of the area's ecology by sharing about the local islands and waterways, how they were formed, and what unique features make for an ideal wildlife habitat. You will also learn from their guides about the shrimping history of Beaufort.
Then visit Gay's Seafood Market and Shrimp Docks on Saint Helena Island. Here you will meet a direct descendant of John H Gay Sr., founder of Gay Fish Company in 1948. You will have an opportunity to view the receipts for shrimp purchased by Paramount Pictures for the filming of Forrest Gump. You will learn how shrimp are caught, sorted, and readied for sale. Returning to shore, enjoy a Lowcountry Boil Lunch at a local restaurant.
This evening, you will head over to the Annual Beaufort Shrimp Festival located at the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park along the Intercoastal Waterway. Savor the best fresh-caught shrimp in the world, featuring unique shrimp dishes from the region's foremost restaurants and chefs. Enjoy dinner on your own and visit the Art's & Crafts Market.
Day 6
Kazoo Factory & Museum Tour - Free Time at Beaufort Shrimp Festival - Fayetteville, NC
After breakfast, visit the only Kazoo Factory in the USA! You will see how kazoos are made from start to finish. You will even make one yourself to take home with you! After your factory tour, you will have time to walk through the museum as well.
Then enjoy some free time and lunch on your own at the Beaufort Shrimp Festival. Enjoy the festivities, vendors, entertainment, and food before departing for Fayetteville, NC. Enjoy an overnight stay at the DoubleTree. Dinner is on your own this evening.
Day 7
Depart for Home - After breakfast, depart for home sweet home.
