Spring in the Berkshires

Travel to the beautiful Berkshires in Massachusetts . During your stay in the Berkshires you will visit the historic home The Mount, visit the Norman Rockwell Museum, the Berkshire Botanical Gardens, the historic Herman Melville House, the Hilltop Orchards for tour and tasting, Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. Also some free time on your own in some of the Massachusetts towns that we visit. Tour includes 2 nights accommodations, 2 breakfasts, 2 dinners, and lunch at The Mount.

Day 1

Today we begin our journey. Our first stop takes us to The Mount. The Mount is a country house in Lenox, Massachusetts, the home of noted American author Edith Wharton, who designed the house and its grounds and considered it her "first real home." The estate, located in The Berkshires. A National Historic Landmark since 1971. This afternoon we enjoy a picnic lunch served on the porch at The Mont. Following lunch we will have time to explore the home and gardens of this beautiful place. Enjoy some free time in Lenox, MA for a little browsing. We check into our hotel for the next two evenings. Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant.

Day 2

Breakfast is included at the hotel. This morning we travel to the Norman Rockwell Museum, home to the largest collection of original Rockwell Art and Memorabilia in the United States. Next we visit the Berkshire Botanical Gardens. The Berkshire Botanical Garden, is a 24-acre botanical garden in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, United States. Its collections contain over 3,000 species and varieties, with an emphasis on plants that thrive in the Berkshires. Enjoy lunch and shopping on your own in charming town of Lenox or Stockbridge. This afternoon we visit Arrowhead. Arrowhead, also known as the Herman Melville House, is a historic house museum in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. It was the home of American author Herman Melville during his most productive years, 1850-1863. We conclude our day with a visit to the Hilltop Orchards for a tour and tasting of Craft Ciders and Wines. Another marvelous dinner is served at a local restaurant.

Day 3

Breakfast is included at our hotel before departure. This morning we begin our journey home making a stop at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome is a living museum in Red Hook, New York. It owns many examples of airworthy aircraft of the pioneer era, World War I and the Golden Age of Aviation between the World Wars, and multiple examples of roadworthy antique automobiles. Following our visit enjoy some free time in Rhinebeck for lunch and shopping on your own. We continue our journey home to NJ.

Chicken Caprese - chicken topped with presto, reggiano, mozzarella and roasted tomatoes, with balsamic reduction served with artisan greens salad
Vegetable Stir Fry - linguini tossed with sauteed broccoli, mushrooms, onions, green and red peppers, snap peas tossed in a soy ginger sauce topped with siracha and sesame seeds

Wild Mushroom Ravioli - wild mushroom and mozzarella filled ravioli tossed with carmelized onions and sauteed mushrooms in a light cognac cream sauce
Pulled Pork Mac n' Cheese - cheese sauce tossed with cavatappi pasta, topped with BBQ pulled pork, BBQ crumbles and onion strings, drizzled with BBQ sauce and housemade ranch
