Juneteenth Festival

 

This unique cultural expedition takes you from the rocky coasts of Maine to the historic shores of Massachusetts. This multi-day New England tour highlights rich coastal heritage and Black history. It features guided sightseeing in Portland with time on your own on the wharf, a narrated cruise past iconic lighthouses, a Boston museum visit, and a ferry ride to Martha's Vineyard for Juneteenth.

Tour Highlights:

  • Scenic Maine Coast:

    Enjoy a fully guided driving tour of Portland, followed by a relaxing cruise of Portland Harbor.

  • Boston's African American History:

    Travel south to Boston to visit the esteemed Museum of African American History , where you will explore centuries of Black community organization and freedom struggles.

  • Boston's African Meeting House and Abiel Smith School

  • Juneteenth on the Vineyard:

    Settle into the coastal town of West Yarmouth, MA. From there, we will take a scenic ferry ride to Martha's Vineyard to celebrate Juneteenth and experience the island's vibrant heritage.

 

 

Day 1

Wednesday, June 16, 2027
This morning, we depart Willingboro for Coastal Maine. Rest stops and lunch will be on your own as we make our journey north. Our first stop in the afternoon brings us to York, Maine, and the Cape Neddick "Nubble Light" for a picture stop. This 41' lighthouse overlooking the Atlantic Ocean is one of the most photographed lighthouses in the country. We continue to Wells where we arrive in time for a delicious lobster dinner to include New England Clam Chowder, Tossed Garden Salad, Steamed Clams & Sauteed Mussels, Entrée choices of Fresh Steamed Lobster, Roasted Prime Rib au Jus or Cranberry Stuffed Chicken Breast, Blueberry Crisp, Coffee/Tea, and Soft Drinks. Following dinner, we continue to Portland where we check into our hotel for the next two nights.

Day 2

Thursday, June 17, 2027
Breakfast is included at the hotel. This morning, you will be joined by a local step on guide for a narrated scenic driving tour of Portland highlights including a trip to the Bug Light. Following the tour enjoy lunch and free time on your own along the Portland Waterfront. This afternoon we set sail on a fully narrated Harbor Lights and Sights cruise. Sit back as we cruise through Portland Harbor and Diamond Pass and take in the iconic lighthouses, scenic shorelines, and coastal wildlife. Dinner is on your own this evening in Portland.

Day 3

Friday, June 18, 2027
Breakfast is included at the hotel. Today we say goodbye to Maine and make our way south for our first stop in Boston at the Museum of African American History. We will enjoy a docent led tour of the African Meeting House, once a church, school, and vital meeting house. You will have time to explore the exhibits and museum store located in the Abiel Smith School building next door. We make our way to historic Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market for lunch and shopping on your own. Boarding the coach, we continue to West Yarmouth and Massachusetts and check into our hotel for the next two nights. Dinner is on your own this evening at one of the restaurants located within easy walking distance of the hotel.

Day 4

Saturday, June 19, 2027
Breakfast is included at the hotel. This morning, we will board the Hy-Line ferry and depart for Martha's Vineyard. Upon arrival in Oak Bluffs, you will have the day to enjoy the Juneteenth Jubilee Festival, focusing on community, culture, and joy. Lunch, dinner and island excursions will be at your leisure and expense. We will board the ferry in the early evening and return to Hyannis for the bus transfer to the hotel.

Sunday June 20, 2027
Breakfast is included at the hotel. We wave goodbye to Cape Cod and begin our travels home.
